Bachelor of Education(B.Ed) is a course offered for those interested in pursuing a career in teaching. The B.Ed degree is mandatory for teaching in higher primary schools and high schools. The minimum eligibility to apply for B.Ed. is a three-year undergraduate program. National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) is making some sweeping changes from the next academic year. It is increasing the duration of the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) program from one year to two years with the major change in the curriculum.This change also comes with some other strict norms for students. Students have been mandated to complete B.Ed. within three years from the date of admission. With Attendance requirement of 80% and vigilance of one teacher for every 25 students is required.Strict norms for Colleges are also coming, only those Colleges that have the required infrastructure and facilities will only be permitted to increase intake of students.


Documents to be submitted at the time of admission:

  • 2nd PUC / 12th STD/ Equivalent

Andhra Pradesh The Education Common Entrance Test (Ed-CET)
  • Candidates appearing Ed-CET Test should have passed B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./B.Sc.(Home Science)/B.C.A./B.B.M. examination from any University in Andhra Pradesh or a recognized University outside Andhra Pradesh.
  • Candidates should have secured 50% marks minimum. The candidates should have completed the age of 19 years on 1st July of the year in which notification is issued. There shall be no maximum age limit.
  • The tentative dates of issue of application for Ed.CET would be in the third week of March. 
  • The tentative dates of Ed.CET Test would be conducted in second week of June.
Haryana
 

Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra
  • No. of seats to be filled up are around 60,000 in about 460 Colleges of Education located in the State of Haryana.
  • Candidates with at least 50% marks in the Bachelor Degree.45% marks for SC/ST candidates.45% marks for Blind /Physically Handicapped and Visually Impaired candidates.
  • The seats shall be distributed :1) All India Category including Haryana : 15% and 2) Bonafide Residents of Haryana : 85%.

Punjab
Federation of Associations of Self Financed Colleges of Education
  • Candidates with at least 50% marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree  and/or in the Master’s degree or any other qualification declared equivalent there to.
  • 85% seats will be reserved for the candidates from within the state and 15% seats will be open to candidates of other states/UTs on all India basis.
  • No Entrance test will be conducted. The admission to the B.Ed. course shall be made on the basis of merit of qualifying examination.
  • The annual Fee for B.Ed. course is Rs. 49,000/- (Rupees Forty Nine Thousand only).

Karnataka
Karnataka CET  exam
  • All applicants shall have a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate of all the three years of Degree .
  • SC, ST, C-1 and physically handicapped candidates shall have a minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate of all the three years of Degree.
  • Application forms can also be downloaded from the institute’s website.

Maharashtra
Maharashtra CET exam
  • All applicants shall have a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate of all the three years of Degree .
  • SC, ST, C-1 and physically handicapped candidates shall have a minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate of all the three years of Degree.
  • Students desirous of seeking admission to English Medium Colleges of Education will have to appear for English Language Knowledge Test along with CET. It is essential for the candidates to secure minimum 25 marks (50%) out of 50.
  • The tentative dates of issue of application for CET would be in April.
  • The tentative dates of Pre-Teacher Education Test would be conducted in the last week of May.

West Bengal
University of Burdwan

  • Candidates with at least 50% marks either in Bachelor’s Degree and/or in Master’s degree.
  • SC/ST category 40% marks either in Bachelor’s Degree (i.e. for Hons. courses) and / or in Master’s Degree or 37.5% marks in Bachelor’s Degree (i.e. for Genl. Courses) be eligible for application.
  • The tentative dates of issue of application for B.Ed is March.
  • The tentative dates of Pre-Teacher Education Test would be conducted in the last week of May.

Kerala
Kerala B Ed Entrance Exam
  • The candidate must have to posses B. Sc., B. A. or any other equivalence graduate degree from a recognized University in India with minimum of 50% aggregated marks.
  • There will be separate application forms for ‘General’ and ‘SC/ST’ candidates.

Chhattisgarh
    SCERT
  • The candidate must have to posses B. Sc., B. A. or any other equivalence graduate degree from a recognized University in India with minimum of 45% aggregated marks.
  • Selection will be made strictly as per University norms.

 Panjab 
Joint Entrance Test Panjab University
  • Admission to B.Ed. is made on the basis of subject combinations according to the merit in Entrance Test.
  • 60% seats are filled up from amongst the students who passed their qualifying examination from colleges recognized by the Chandigarh Administration and situated in the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
  • 40% seats are filled from amongst the students who have passed their qualifying examination from the Institutions other than those located in the Union Territory of Chandigarh or otherwise.
Himachal Pradesh
 
NO ENTRANCE EXAM
  • Each college provides admission according to their eligibility criteria.
  • The applicant should possess either a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree or any other qualification equivalent there to with at least 50% marks (45% in case of SC, ST, and Ex-serviceman categories) from a recognized university established by law in India.

Jharkhand
NO ENTRANCE EXAM
  • Each college provides admission according to their eligibility criteria.
  • The candidate must have to posses B. Sc., B. A. or any other equivalence graduate degree from a recognized University in India with minimum of 50% aggregated marks.
  • There shall be a relaxation of marks in favor of SC and ST candidates as per norms of the State Govt. and the NCTE.

 Tamil Nadu
Lady Willingdon Institute of Advanced study in Education
  • Those who have secured 50% of marks and above in part III of Degree examinations alone need apply for B.Ed., course. This will be relaxed for SC / ST candidates.
  • There is no upper age limit for admission to B. Ed. Courses.
  • Fee for the various courses in Government/Aided colleges will be as fixed / approved by the Government, from time to time.

Uttar Pradesh
MJP Rohilkhand University
  • Candidates must have passed Graduate degree with minimum 50 percent marks from a recognized university (Final year candidates are not allowed to appear in the exam).
  • Candidates must buy the application form / brochure from the branch of Union Bank of India.
  • The cost of the application form is Rs. 800 (Rs. 450 for SC/ST candidates).
