Bams ( Bachelor of  Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) is one of the oldest medical systems in the world. Ayurvedic medicine was discovered 300 years before. It was discovered by Dhanvantari, the physician to the gods in Hindu mythology, who received it from Brahma. In the first millennium BCE, Sushruta Samhita explains the concept and practice of surgery in Ayurveda in India. Ayurveda is also known as Indian Medicine. 

Is doing a Bams course worth or not?

This is the most important question running in the mind of students who want to do BAMS(Ayurveda). This is because some confusion arose by our society that " whether a bams student will work as a doctor or not, or can an Ayurveda doctor use Allopath medicine or not ".

So here is an answer to your doubts, yes a bams graduate are also a "Doctor", They can open their own clinic also. In some states of India, Bams Doctor is already appointed in primary Health Centers in rural areas where they can practice allopathy during emergencies.

 How you can take admission in BAMS (Ayurveda)

Bams (Ayurveda) admission process depends on state to state. Since 2017 all over India, the admission process for Ayurveda was through NEET. But some states like Karnataka and TamilNadu has taken direct admission on the basis of 12th marks till 2019. For taking admission in Ayurveda you must have to score more than 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and biology together. Now we will explain to you the state-wise admission process of BAMS (Ayurveda).

How to apply for BAMS

Eligibility for Bams admission

Passed Intermediate Science/Pre-Medical Course/12 year of 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology took together. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination may also apply.

Age: Completed 17 years as of 31st December of the year of admission.

Duration of Bams course

The Undergraduate Course, Ayurvedacharya (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) is of 5½ years duration (4½ years of the main course and 1-year internship).
